Breaking Up Fallow Grounds

*”Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap steadfast love; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, that He may come and rain righteousness upon you.”* — *Hosea 10:12*

Fallow ground represents areas in our lives that have become hardened, unproductive, or spiritually dormant. The Hebrew word for “fallow” (*niyr* – נִיר) refers to soil that has been left uncultivated, making it incapable of producing fruit until it is broken. As we progress into 2025, God is calling us to identify and break up the fallow areas of our hearts and lives—those untouched by His grace or hindered by complacency, sin, or distractions. *”You cannot sow seeds of righteousness into hardened soil and expect a harvest.”*

Breaking up fallow ground requires repentance, humility, and an intentional pursuit of God through prayer and His Word. *”Unbroken soil produces no harvest, and an unyielding heart resists divine transformation.”* As you allow God to work in those dormant areas, He will rain righteousness upon you, leading to spiritual fruitfulness. *”The rain of God’s righteousness falls on prepared ground; prepare your heart and watch Him work wonders.”* Let this be a year of personal revival as you make your heart fertile for His divine purposes.

*PRAYER*

Lord, I surrender every hardened area of my life to You. Break up my fallow ground and prepare my heart to receive the seeds of Your Word. Rain Your righteousness upon me and make me fruitful in every good work. Amen.
