Singing the Lord’s Song
How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land?” – Psalm 137:4 (KJV)
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and
shall trust in the Lord.” – Psalm 40:3 (KJV)
There are seasons in life when our surroundings seem foreign, our situations uncomfortable, and our joy
stifled. The Israelites in exile once asked, “How shall we sing the Lord’s song in a strange land?” It was a
cry of brokenness, a reflection of deep sorrow. Yet even in exile, God remains faithful. In time, He lifts His
people out of despair and gives them a reason to sing again. He puts a new song in our mouths—not
based on how things look around us, but based on who He is.
You may find yourself today in a place that feels strange or heavy—a job, a relationship, a season of
waiting. But God’s goodness does not fade in unfamiliar places. In fact, He often reveals Himself more
deeply in such moments. He teaches us to sing—not because of where we are, but because of who He is.
To sing the Lord’s song in difficult times is to declare that God is still good, that His promises still stand,
and that your soul still trusts Him. Your praise becomes your victory and your testimony. As you
celebrate His goodness, even when it’s hard, others will see your faith and be drawn to Him.
Prayer
Father, thank You for Your goodness that never changes—whether I’m in a familiar place or walking
through a strange season. Put a new song in my heart, one that reflects Your faithfulness and draws
others to You. Let my worship rise above my circumstances. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Declaration
“I declare that God is good in every season. I will sing His song with joy, even in difficult times, and my
praise will reflect His faithfulness.”
