Preparing for Rain

Preparing for Rain

And he said, ‘Thus says the Lord: Make this valley full of ditches. For thus says the Lord: You shall not see
wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water…’ 2 Kings 3:16–17 (NKJV)

The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but deliverance is of the Lord. Proverbs 21:31 (NKJV)

Rain often symbolizes God’s blessing, provision, and spiritual refreshing. Before the water came to the
valley in the days of Elisha, the people were given an unusual instruction—to dig ditches in dry ground. It
was a call to prepare physically and spiritually for a supernatural act.

Many long for the outpouring of abundance—breakthroughs, revival, favor—but few take the faith-
driven steps of preparation. Preparing for rain means creating space for God to move, even when there is no evidence yet. It’s building in faith, praying without results, and sowing where there’s no harvest in
sight.

True preparation involves trusting God’s word enough to act before the evidence appears. We plan, we
pray, we labor—not because we see the answer—but because we believe it is coming. God responds to
obedience and readiness. When the rain falls, will your ditches be ready to receive it?

Prayer

Father, thank You for Your promises of abundance and refreshing. Teach me to walk in obedience and
faith as I prepare for the outpouring You have promised. Help me to dig spiritual ditches through prayer,
repentance, generosity, and service. Even when I see no sign of rain, may I trust in Your Word and ready
my life to receive all that You are releasing. Let my faith be active, and my heart expectant. In Jesus’
name, Amen.

Declaration

“I prepare in faith for God’s abundance. Though I see no sign, I believe the rain is coming. My life is ready
to receive it, and I will overflow in Jesus’ name!”
