Celebrating Deliverance
Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying: ‘I will sing to the
Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!
Exodus 15:1 (NKJV)
He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm
place to stand – Psalm 40:2 (NIV)
There are moments in life when we find ourselves trapped—by fear, guilt, oppression, or impossible
circumstances. But our God is a Deliverer. When the Israelites stood on the shores of the Red Sea, with
Pharaoh’s army behind and waters ahead, their situation seemed hopeless. Yet, in that dire moment,
God made a way through the sea and led them to freedom. Their response? A song of celebration!
Likewise, David reflects on his own deliverance, saying that God lifted him out of the pit and set his feet
on a rock. Deliverance is not just escape —it is divine repositioning. It’s when God lifts you from despair
and sets you on a new path filled with purpose and peace.
As we celebrate God’s goodness today, let’s remember and rejoice over the times He broke chains,
opened doors, silenced the enemy, and pulled us out of situations we thought would bury us. Your
deliverance is a testimony. Your freedom is a reason to sing!
Prayer
Lord, I thank You for every battle You fought for me, for every time You lifted me out of a dark place and
planted my feet on solid ground. Teach me to never take Your deliverance for granted. Let my life be a
song of praise to Your saving power. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
