We believe that the Bible is the Word of God; without error as originally written. Its content has been preserved by Him, and is the final authority in all matters of doctrine and faith–above all human authority. (Isaiah 40:8, Psalm 12:6-7, Psalm 18:30, Psalm 119:105; Psalm 119:160; Matt 5:18; Matt 24:35; John 17:17; 2Tim 3:16; Heb 4:12; 2Pet 1:20-21; 2Pet 3:15-16)
We believe there is no God but one: the infinite Designer, Creator, and Sustainer of all existence in this or any universe-from eternity past to eternity future. God’s nature is triune-three perfect and eternal persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—who are one, in being as well as in purpose (Mark 12:29; Isaiah 43:10-11; Luke 3:22; Deuteronomy 6:4; Col 2:9; John 10:30; 2 Cor 13:14)
The Father exists eternally as the Creator of heaven and earth, the Giver of the Law, to whom all things will be subjected, so that He may be all in all (Gen. 1:1; 1 Cor. 15:28; Psalm 8:3; Psalm 90:2).
The Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal and only begotten Son of the Father, is true God and true man. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and by His sinless life, miracles and teaching, gave full revelation of the Father (John 1:1,14; 10:30,17; Phil. 2:6,7; Heb. 1:8; Luke 1:26-35; John 12:49; Acts 2:22; 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 7:26)
He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust, as a substitution sacrifice. He rose from the dead. He is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our great High Priest. He will come again to establish His kingdom in righteousness and peace (Rom. 5:6,8; 1 Cor. 15:3; 1Pet. 3:18; Matt. 28:6; 1 Cor. 15:4,20 Acts 1:9-11; 2:33; Heb. 8:1; Matt. 25:31)
The Holy Spirit is also God, performing actions and possessing the attributes of the Deity. His personality is shown by the fact that He has personal characteristics and that individuals may relate to Him as a person (Acts 5:3,4; John 16:13-14)
We believe that man is a created, finite being; designed in the image of God, with the ability to reason, make choices, and have relationships. Man was created for the purpose of bringing glory to God, but since the day man first rebelled against God’s law, all mankind has been sinful by nature, and has earned the penalty of death and eternal separation from God
(Gen 1:26-27; Gen 2:7,25; Gen 3:12-13; Prov 14:12; Isaiah 64:6; Ezek 18:4; Eccl 7:29; Matt 13:41-42; Rom 3:10, 19-20,23; Rom 6:23; Eph 2:1-2; Rev 20:12,15)
The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare:
(i) His virgin birth, (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31; Luke 1:35);
(ii) His sinless life, (Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22);
(iii) His miracles, (Acts 2:22; Acts 10:38);
(iv) His substitutionary work on the cross, (1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21);
(v) His bodily resurrection from the dead, (Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Corinthians 15:4);
(vi) His exaltation to the right hand of God, (Acts 1:9; Acts 1:11; Acts 2:33; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 1:3).
a) ATONEMENT OF CHRIST
Salvation has been provided for all men through the sacrifice of Christ upon the cross. It is the only perfect redemption and substitution atonement for all the sins of the world, both original and actual. His atoning work has been proven by His resurrection from the dead. Those who repent and believe in Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and receive eternal life. Furthermore, in the atonement, divine healing was provided for all believers (Isaiah 53:3-6; John 12:32-33; 1 Peter 2:24; Act 2:36; Romans 4:25; 1 Corinthians 15:14, 17,20; Act 20:21; 1 Peter 1:23, 25; Matt 8:16-17).
b) REPENTANCE AND FAITH
Man can be born again only through faith in Christ. Repentance, a vital part of believing, is a complete change of mind wrought by the Holy Spirit, turning a person to God from sin (Isaiah 55:7; Acts 7:30; 1 John 5:10-13)
c) REGENERATION
Regeneration is a creative work of the Holy Spirit by which man is born again and receives spiritual life (John 3:3,5,7; 1 Peter 1:23)
d) JUSTIFICATION
Justification is a judicial act of God by which the sinner is declared righteous solely on the basis of his acceptance of Christ as Saviour (Rom 3:24; Rom 4:3-5; Rom 5:1-2).
(A) ASSURANCE
Assurance of salvation is the privilege of all who are born again by the Spirit through faith in Christ, resulting in love, gratitude and obedience toward God (John 10:27-29; Rom. 8:35-39)
(B) SANCTIFICATION
Sanctification is dedication to God and separation from evil. In experience it is both instantaneous and progressive. It is produced in the life of the believer by his appropriation of the power of Christ’s blood and risen life through the person of the Holy Spirit; He draws the believer’s attention to Christ, teaches him through the Word and produces the character of Christ within him. Believers who sin must repent and seek forgiveness through faith in the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ.(2 Cor. 6:14; 7:1; John 17:17,19; Heb. 10:10,14; I Thes. 5:23; 2 Tim. 2:19-22; 1 Pet. 1:14-16 ; Rom. 6:11,13,14,18; 1 Cor. 13; Gal. 5:22, 23; 2 Pet. 1:3-4; 1 John 1:9; 2:1-2
(C) BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
The baptism in the Holy Spirit is an experience in which the believer yields control of himself to the Holy Spirit. Through this he comes to know Christ in a more intimate way and receives power to witness and grow spiritually. Believers should earnestly seek the baptism in the Holy Spirit according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. The initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth. (Matt. 3:11; Acts 1:5; Eph. 5:18; John 16:13-15; Acts 2:1-4; 9-17,39; 1 Cor. 14:18; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4, 8; 2 Cor. 3:18; Acts 1:8; Acts 8:12-17; 10:44-46).
(D) THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT
The gifts of the Spirit are supernatural abilities given by God through the exercising of which believers are enabled to minister effectively and directly in particular situations. They serve the dual function of building up the church and of demonstrating the presence of God within His church (1 Cor. 12:4-11; 1 Cor. 12:7; 14:12, 24-25)
(E) DIVINE HEALING
Divine healing provided in the atonement of Christ is the privilege of all believers. Prayer for the sick and gifts of healing are encouraged and practiced (Matt. 8:16,17; 1 Cor. 12:28-30; James 5:14)
(A) THE UNIVERSAL CHURCH
All who are born again are members of the universal church, which is the Body and Bride of Christ (1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 5:25b; Col. 1:18; 1 Tim. 3:15)
(B) THE LOCAL CHURCH
The local church is a body of believers in Christ who have joined together to function as a part of the universal church. The local church is ordained by God and provides a context in which believers corporately worship God, observe the ordinances of the church, are instructed in the faith and equipped for the evangelization of the world (Acts 14:23; 1 Cor. 16:19
John 4:23; Acts 20:7; Acts 1:8; 11:19-24; 2 Tim. 2:2; 1 Pet. 5:2)
We believe that the Church is God’s primary instrument through which He is fulfilling His redemptive purposes in the earth. To equip the saints for the work of ministry, God has given the Church apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. We also affirm the priesthood of all believers and the importance of every Christian being joined with and actively involved in a local community of the saints. We believe that women, no less than men, are called and gifted to proclaim the gospel and do all the works of the kingdom (Mt. 16:17–19; Acts 2:17–18, 42; Eph. 3:14–21; 4:11–16; 1 Tim. 2:11–15; Heb. 10:23–25; 1 Pet. 2:4–5, 9–10)
We believe that God has called the Church to preach the gospel to all nations, to especially remember the poor, and to minister to their needs through sacrificial giving and practical service. This ministry is an expression of the heart of the Lord Jesus Christ and is an essential part of the kingdom of God (Isa. 58:6–12; 61:1; Mt. 5–7; 28:18–20; Lk. 4:18; 21:1–4; Gal. 2:10; 1 Tim. 6:8)
(A) THE LORD’S SUPPER
The Lord’s Supper is a symbol, memorial and proclamation of the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus Christ. This ordinance of communion is to be participated in by believers until Christ’s return (Matt. 26:26-28; 1 Cor. 10:16-17; 11:23-26)
(B) WATER BAPTISM
Water baptism signifies the believer’s identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection and is practised by immersion (Matt. 28:19; Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38, 41; 8:36-39; Rom. 6:3-5)
We believe in the Second Coming of Christ and the Resurrection of the dead, both the saved and the unsaved. They that are saved to the resurrection of life and the unsaved to the Resurrection of damnation (Acts 1:11; 10:42; Mark 13:26; John 5:28-29; Daniel 12:2; Romans 2:7-11; 6:23).
We believe in the literal second coming of Christ at the end of the age when He will return to earth personally and visibly to consummate His kingdom. We believe that the Church will go through the Great Tribulation in great power and victory. We believe the Church will be raptured at the end of the Great Tribulation. We also believe in and are praying for a great end–time harvest of souls and the emergence of a victorious Church that will experience an unprecedented unity, purity, and power in the Holy Spirit (Ps. 2:7–9; 22:27–28; Jn. 14:12; 17:20–26; Rom. 11:25–32; 1 Cor. 15:20–28, 50–58; Eph. 4:11–16; Phil. 3:20–21; 1 Thes. 4:13–5:11; 2 Thes. 1:3–12; Rev. 7:9–14)
Tithing was divinely instituted by God under the old covenant and was compulsory upon the people who worshiped God. Under the new covenant we are not bound by arbitrary laws; but the principles of right and wrong, as expressed by the law, are fulfilled in the believer’s life through grace. Grace should produce as much as or more than law demanded. Regular systematic giving is clearly taught in the New Testament. It is known as the grace of giving. The gauge or rule of this systematic giving is defined in the Old Testament, known as the law of tithing. All Christians should conscientiously and systematically tithe their income to God (Lev. 27:30-32; Mal. 3:10; 2 Cor. 9:6-15).
