Abundance of Rain

Elijah said to Ahab, “There is the sound of abundance of rain.” Elijah went to the top of Carmel, bowed to
the ground, and prayed. He sent his servant seven times to look toward the sea. On the seventh time, the
servant said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea.”
1 Kings 18:41–44 (Abridged, NKJV)
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)
Faith is often tested in the silence before the breakthrough, in the dryness before the downpour. Elijah
declared the sound of abundance of rain even when the skies remained clear. He bowed in persistent
prayer, sending his servant to check the horizon again and again. On the seventh time, a small cloud—
barely the size of a man’s hand—began to form. That tiny sign was enough, because faith does not wait
for sight to believe; it moves on the assurance of what God has already spoken.
God honors the kind of faith that stands unwavering before the cloud appears. When we believe before
we see, we partner with heaven’s agenda. Though your sky may look empty now, continue praying,
praising, and preparing. Your cloud is forming.
Prayer
Dear Father, thank You for the assurance that You are working even when I see nothing. Teach me to
trust Your word above my circumstances. Strengthen my spirit to keep praying, keep believing, and keep
expecting—even when the skies remain unchanged. May my faith rise like Elijah’s, declaring rain before
it falls, knowing that You are faithful to fulfill what You have promised. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Declaration
“I believe before I see. My cloud is forming. My rain is coming. In Jesus’ name!”
